What We Do & What We Value

At Anarres, our work is guided by a set of collective commitments about what ethical, effective therapy should look like:

  • We believe therapy should be accessible.
We accept multiple insurance plans and offer sliding-scale options because everyone deserves access to high-quality mental health care—not just those who can easily afford it.

  • We believe good therapists never stop learning.
We consult with colleagues, seek supervision when needed, and pursue ongoing training to ensure our clients receive thoughtful, informed, and evolving care.

  • We believe gender-affirming care saves lives.
We proudly provide gender-affirming services for clients of all ages, including evaluations and letters, and remain dedicated to supporting people in living as their authentic selves.

  • We believe our field must reckon with its history.
Therapy has too often caused harm to clients of color, gender-diverse clients, disabled clients, and others from marginalized communities. We prioritize hiring marginalized clinicians and actively center their voices in our decisions as one step toward repairing those harms.

  • We believe collaboration makes us stronger.
We operate as a community, making business decisions together whenever possible, because cooperation, not hierarchy, creates a more sustainable and accountable practice.

These values inform not just what we say, but how we show up for our clients and for one another.

Our Approaches

At Anarres Seattle, we offer a variety of therapeutic approaches, with a core theme of equitable, effective treatment for all.

Art and Play Therapy

For all ages.

Art and play are powerful forms of therapy. For many children and teens, talk therapy alone isn’t enough. Play and art therapy meet young people where they are, offering developmentally appropriate ways to express and process emotions. Many adults also benefit from creative, nonverbal methods.

We believe healing extends beyond conversation. Creativity, imagination, and play can unlock opportunities that words sometimes cannot.

Neurodiversity-Affirming Therapy

For all ages.

Neurodiversity is a big umbrella - encompassing Autisim, ADHD, learning disabilities, and more. Neurodivergent people deserve therapy that is affirming, respectful, and grounded in how their brains actually work. At Anarres, the majority of our clinicians are neurodivergent. We understand firsthand that many neurodivergent individuals have had invalidating or even harmful experiences in therapy. Our approach centers autonomy, collaboration, and your goals - not compliance, masking, or “fixing.”

We believe neurodivergence is something to be understood and supported, not corrected.

Gender-Affirming Therapy

For all ages.

Care that honors your identity. At Anarres, the majority of our clinicians are trans or nonbinary. We understand firsthand how life-changing therapy can be when your identity is truly affirmed. Many gender-expansive individuals have experienced invalidating or unsafe care in the past. Our approach centers your goals, your identity, and your well-being - never pathologizing, erasing, or forcing you to conform.

We believe gender-diverse identities are to be celebrated and supported with care and affirmation.
